cherryrobinson asked: Hey! I'm Cherish. I run this collective called Locals Only Club and on June 22nd we're going to be hosting our first annual "Girls to the Front" show in Downtown Pomona, CA. I wanted to know if you by chance would know of any all female or female fronted bands that would like to get on the bill for that show? Let me know!
hey if any followers are in bands or know of any all female or female fronted bands in the California area you should definitely let Cherish know!
Alright time for another Grrrl Riot mix, short explanation: these are some straight up good songs by great female fronted or all-female bands, fact. I even threw in an old 60s girl group track by Terry & The Tunisians which has been an all time favourite of mine since I was 16 (I’m also desperately trying to find the 7”, one day oh one day). Hope you’ll enjoy, or whatever.

jennyteacups asked: I'm working on a gender/sexuality zine for school (I'm a Feminist Studies major at UCSC) & was wondering if you could please reblog my call for submissions? You can find the post on my tumblr by clicking the link on the top of the page that reads "submit to my gender & sexuality project!". Thank you so, so much.
As you probably know, I am currently in my final Feminist Studies year at UCSC. I am asking you to please lend me your help/talents as I work on a final project for an upper division sociology course entitled “Gender, Sexuality, & Politics” wherein I am required to “create a cultural product of [my] own which [I] intend to be politically transgressive in some way” & “think through both the production and the consumption of [my] product.” I have decided to fashion a zine entitled “Questions of Misbehavior.”
WHAT I NEED FROM YOU IS THIS: art/photographs/poetry/fictional prose/nonfictional essays/what-have-you that explore supposed “failures” of femininity, masculinity, sexuality - that aren’t necessarily a means of celebration, but definitely shouldn’t be punished or fetishized. These submissions should demonstrate real-actual-mistakes or authentically-purposeful-decisions or genuinely-manifold-ways-of-being that usually are painted in the confines of popular media as “failures” of a gendered/sexual identity. I want (somewhat/internally) complicated, off-kilter, a-little-bit-shameful-but-shouldn’t-be anecdotes highlighting specific intersections of clutter, joy, & disappointment: something along the lines of this-is-how-I-might-be-seen-as-a-“failure”-for-my-“misbehavior.”
